DOME DIAPHRAGMS

Commonly dome diaphragms are 1-3 inches in size and used in tweeters.

One of our specialities is the consistent production of tweeter domes made of very fine fabric with an integrated surround. Here the surround of a dome diaphragm is not pasted afterwards, but formed simultaneously with the dome production with a convex or concave shape.

For this kind of dome diaphragm DKM uses fabrics with grammages of 30 to 110 g/sqm, which are coated according to the application. The optimal balance of fabric and resin leads to the required mechanical strength.

In addition to these fabric domes, DKM also supplies large quantities of assembled hard domes with soft surrounds for highest quality requirements concerning the frequency response of a tweeter.

Aluminum, titanium or magnesium are used as membrane materials. These can be supplied either untreated or with a ceramic surface. The ceramic coating gives the membrane greater rigidity, hardness and mechanical resistance.

In addition to this type of treatment, we can offer thin layers of PVD (DLC - Diamond-like carbon) on the domes. This increases stability against mechanical and chemical attack, providing improved performance and consistent appearance without adding weight.

Plastic foils with a thickness of 80 to 240 µ or coated fabrics with a basis weight of 30 to 60 g/m² are used to form the Surround.

The production takes place with high precision and with reproducible properties on computer-controlled systems with mostly automated quality control.
